Western Trails Conference - Art Day!
The WTC held its Art Day on Saturday, April 13 in conjunction with the WTC Track meet at Mitchell High School.
The WNCC Art Department and Art Club were present to share about their program and judge entries for 2 and 3 dimensional art.
All participants participated in a "Still Life " painting session.
The 3 Dimensional Art winner was Zanizeah Chavez of Mitchell High School!

REGISTRATION AND MONEY DUE BY MAY 1, 2024
When: June 10th - 12th
For: Grades 3-5 at 9:30-11:30 a.m.
FIRST 48 MITCHELL GIRLS TO REGISTER
Cost: $90
For: Grades 6-8 at 12:30-3:30 p.m.
FIRST 36 MITCHELL GIRLS TO REGISTER
Cost: $125
1. Time is critical since they only allow a set amount of girls into the camp.
2. Return all registration forms and camp money to Mitchell Elementary or Mitchell High School.
Varsity Girls Basketball will have their session at the Hooper/Heimstra Basketball Academy. Coach Turek will be sending information home tomorrow.
Information will be coming out soon for the Hooper/Heimstra Basketball Academy for Mitchell Boys, July 29-31!

Mitchell Elementary will be conducting NSCAS testing (state testing) beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, April 16. Grades 3-6 will be testing in the areas of language arts and math. Grade 5 will be testing in the area of science. Language Arts assessments will be conducted on Tuesday, Math on Wednesday, and Science on Thursday.
We ask parents to do your part by setting up your child for success:
-Attendance - send your child to school!
-Sleep - see that your child gets adequate sleep this week. Please limit gaming and cell phone use during the week.
-Confirm your child eats right and is ready to do their best when they arrive at school.
-Encourage your child/children to do their best!!
-Follow up with your child/children after the test - show them you care!

Mitchell Jr/Sr High School Employment Opportunity! Jr/Sr High Social Studies position will be available for the 2024-2025 School Year. Current position is American Government (12th) and World History (10th) but is dependent on teachers' strengths.

Congratulations to both Santiago Castillo and Cael Peters for entering the Mitchell Athletic Hall of Fame for their All-State Football Selections. Santiago was chosen to the following outlets for All-State: Lincoln Journal Star 1st Team Kicker, Omaha World Herald 1st Team Athlete/Kicker, 1,000 Yard Guy Bobby Mills 1st Team Kicker, and Huskerland Preps 1st Team Defensive Back. Cael was chosen to the following outlets for All-State: Lincoln Journal Star 1st Team Defensive Athlete, 1,00 Yard Guy Bobby Mills 1st Team Defensive Athlete, and Omaha World Herald 1st Team Linebacker. Congratulations to both of these athletes on their great accomplishments and football careers at Mitchell High School.

Good Morning from Mr. Dobry: After an intense three days of competition, we have some results from the State FFA competition. The kids competed hard and represented Mitchell well in our first year as a stand alone chapter. We had 5 teams that competed on the first day, Wednesday of state. The Ag Demo team received a silver placing plaque. We donāt know what place they got as they have not released those results yet. Emmett Carlson got a bronze medal in Cooperative Speaking. Once again, we donāt know what place he got as those results havenāt been released yet. The Floriculture team placed 42nd out of 58 teams: Audree Carlson led the way placing 63rd. Reese Sauer placed 134th, Alissa Hodsden placed 181st, and Ashton Keener placed 189th out of 232 students. The Ag Mechanics team placed 14th out of 58 receiving a Blue ribbon as a team. Wyatt Sauer placed 26th, Evan Hessler placed 60th, Jackson Jenkins placed 99th, and William Pieper placed 142nd out of 232 students. The Farm and Ag Business team placed 52nd out of 101 teams. Jake Meyer placed 123rd, Wyatt Carlson placed 172nd, Haylee Jacobs placed 220th, and William Thomas placed 241st out of 403 students. We had two teams compete on Thursday. The Agronomy team placed 48th out of 58 teams. Elijah Rus placed 92nd, Rylan Houk placed 119th, Zane Keller placed 189th, and Michael Suttles placed 229th out of 232 students. The Agscience team placed 112th out of 143 teams. Thomas Esselstein placed 126th, Hadleigh Bolzer placed 259th, Corbin Zaruba placed 390th, and Kolbie Gluth placed 433rd out of 567 students. We rounded out the week with our Senior Livestock Judging team. They placed 25th out of 58 teams. Sophia Pitts placed 64th, Kate Pieper placed 74th, Kaden Hessler placed 106th, and Josie Waite placed 163rd out of 231 students. Shirley Cotant got to hang out with the Choir all week and perform at almost every session, we received our new charter, and just had an all around good week of competition. Congratulations Tigers!
The Jr. High Track Meet in Bayard tomorrow has been moved to Thursday April 11th.
